Helpful Apps

 

OnX Backcountry This app allows you to see property boundaries between public and private land. Also, you can acquire landowner information that can be used to gain landowner permission.

GAIA GPS This app has a wide variety of maps and the ability to mark rockhounding spots and to track hikes. Old mines are listed.

The Cooperative National Geologic Map This map was developed by the United States Geological Survey. Choose from a variety of geologic maps.

 

Rockd ​This app allows you to see bedrock and various geologic formations

Avenza This app has several maps of the Black Hills that are free to download that display many forest service roads, public lands, and dispersed camping location.
